Auburn Afternoon
Just a 45 minute drive from Sacramento, Auburn offers a quick escape on a sunny day. After an early finish this past Saturday, I headed out to Auburn with two of my friends.
We made it to the trailhead around 4 pm and began our nature hike. Armed with Trader Joes rice crackers, two rolls of film, and our senses of humor, we started on the Poppy Trail at the suggestion of one of the park rangers and headed for the Hidden Falls. Our high spirits lasted for the first few switchbacks, until a persistent swarm of mosquitos latched onto my friend. The "hike" ended up being more of a nature walk. But thanks to the rainfall that has hit California this past winter and spring, the lush scenery provided plenty of breathtaking views. And as any nature adventure should, our day ended with burgers and shakes at a local Auburn stop that hit the spot.
Here are some photos of Auburn from my Minolta x-700 on Kodak Portra 400 shot at ISO 200.
